SUMMARY:SOLD OUT: Purposeful Boards\, Powerful Fundraising - Oct 25
DESCRIPTION:Two dates available: October 25th or 26th \nIt’s never been more important for boards and staff to work together effectively to solicit financial support for your organization. Designed for board-staff teams\, this practical session addresses the complementary roles board members play in their organization’s governance and resource development. \nFor your convenience\, the same session will be offered on two different dates: October 25\, 2019 & October 26\, 2019. \nThe day will begin with a close look at board recruitment\, structure\, operations\, and culture\, knowing that weak boards don’t raise funds effectively. The second part of the session focuses on how to involve board members in effective fundraising. \nTo maximize the benefit of this session we are requiring a minimum of 3 participates from each organization and must include the Executive Director and at least one Board member in attendance. Additional Board and staff participants are strongly encouraged to attend. Having staff and Board members from the same organization attend as teams of four or more will enhance the experience. \nDon’t miss your chance to attend this popular session – Sign up today!\nRegister for October 25th.\nRegister for October 26th.\n\nLocation: Brownson Country Club\, 15 Soundview Ave\, Shelton\, CT \nPresenter: Chuck V. Loring\, MBA\, CFRE is a Senior Governance Associate for BoardSource and senior partner of Loring\, Sternberg & Associates\, based in Fort Lauderdale and Indianapolis\, which provides governance consulting services to nonprofits. Chuck has helped hundreds of local and regional nonprofits across the country strengthen their boards and improve governance practices\, and advanced the missions of world-renowned organizations such as Special Olympics\, Second Harvest Food Banks\, Boys and Girls Clubs of America\, The Susan G. Komen Foundation\, and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. Chuck also conducts training programs for funding organizations\, including a host of community foundations across the country.

SUMMARY:The World of Nonprofits…..The New Normal
DESCRIPTION:This event is sold out.\nThe conference is co-sponsored by the Center for Nonprofits in the Welch College of Business and Technology\, the Master of Public Administration Program at SHU and Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. \nJoin other nonprofit leaders for an informative discussion how to move your organization forward in a time of difficult management and financial challenges. This conference will focus on solutions rather than restating problems. External factors such as financial pullback by the state\, overall reduction in giving\, increased demand for services\, and greater scrutiny and demand for performance metrics by funders have created a “new normal.” \nThe result is that NPOs must rethink how they operate. What is required? \n\nRethinking the organization’s purpose\, operating methods and scope of services\nMore collaboration\, forming partnerships\nMerging with “competitors” or complementary organizations\nAdoption of business solutions/applications/measurement tools\nGetting beyond survival; more strategic thinking\nDeveloping a new generation of NFP leadership\nChanging the dialogue about the role of the nonprofit sector.\n\nCan we identify the “disruptive” influences that can change how NPOs operate? Some larger organizations have embraced “social enterprise” which speaks to the intersection of business and socially responsible organizations. Are these principles applicable to smaller/medium size nonprofits? This conference will help answer these questions in addition to hearing from one of the NPOs space’s most entertaining and professional speakers. \nKeynote Speaker: Vu Le\nVu Le (“voo lay”) is a writer\, speaker\, vegan\, Pisces\, and nonprofit leader who has spent over 13 years as an executive director. He is experienced in nonprofit management\, capacity building\, leadership development\, fundraising\, and funding dynamics\, all done with a lens of equity\, diversity\, inclusion\, and social justice. \nVu’s passion to make the world better\, combined with a low score on the Law School Admission Test\, drove him into the field of nonprofit work\, where he learned that we should take the work seriously\, but not ourselves. There’s tons of humor in the nonprofit world\, and someone needs to document it. He is going to do that\, with the hope that one day\, a TV producer will see how cool and interesting our field is and make a show about nonprofit work\, featuring attractive actors attending strategic planning meetings and filing 990 tax forms. \nKnown for his no-BS approach\, irreverent sense of humor\, and love of unicorns\, Vu has been featured in dozens\, if not hundreds\, of his own blog posts at NonprofitAF.com. He was named as “Writer with an Attitude” by the Chronicle of Philanthropy\, and was selected as one of the Power and Influence 50 in 2019 by the Nonprofit Times.

SUMMARY:Mission-Based Sponsorships Virtual Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What do sponsorships look like without events? Actually\, they can look very good – both for your organization and your sponsors. \nOver the past few years\, we have been learning how most companies prefer to have a ”bundled approach” to sponsoring an organization\, instead of always being called on every time there is an event.  And during the COVID-19 pandemic\, many nonprofits learned that companies want to support their good work and don’t need an event to support a nonprofit they admire. \nThis webinar will probe how to build on that goodwill.  It will examine how to develop sponsorship packages around your mission and the programs that support your mission: sponsorships that are meaningful to your donors and sustainable to your organization. \nIt will also explore how to develop different sponsor levels with tiered sponsorships at different price points.  And we’ll review sponsor benefits\, recognition\, and branding of your sponsorship program and how to approach a business to support a sponsorship package. \nFinally\, we will discuss how this approach will build a sustainable fundraising platform that can grow over time. \nREGISTER NOW
