SUMMARY:Housing Matters: Thriving in Fairfield County
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Fairfield County Talks Housing Kicks Off Third Season on September 12th in Stamford \nHousing Matters: Thriving in Fairfield County\nTuesday\, September 12\, 2023\, 6:30-7:45 pm\nHarry Bennett Branch Library\n115 Vine Street\nStamford\, CT \nRegister Now\nSpace is limited. \nFairfield County Talks Housing will kick off its third season with “Housing Matters: Thriving in Fairfield County” on Tuesday\, September 12th at 6:30 pm at the Harry Bennett Library in Stamford featuring Lutonya Russell-Humes\, VP of Grants and Programs of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation; and Kiley Gosselin\, President and CEO of the  Housing Development Fund. \nSince 2020\, Fairfield County Talks Housing has brought together Fairfield County residents and regional housing experts for thoughtful local discussions on housing. \nFirst launched as Darien Talks Housing\, these community conversations have expanded throughout Fairfield County and are an important opportunity for reflective dialogue on how we can create the affordable housing needed in the region. Recent research estimates Fairfield County lacks 25\,000 affordable\, workforce housing units. \n“Equitable access to safe\, stable\, affordable housing in communities of opportunity is the foundation of a thriving Fairfield County — and partnering with our community to ensure that all residents have housing access and choice is a central piece of our mission\,” said Mendi Blue Paca\, President and CEO of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. “Unfortunately\, we have a long way to go to achieve that vision. Fairfield County has the second highest income inequality in the nation\, and housing affordability remains elusive for many.” \n“This community conversation will offer Fairfield County residents a chance to hear from and discuss important issues with experts in the housing field”\, said Evonne Klein\, Founder of FCTH. “We’re thrilled to have Mendi Blue Paca sharing her expertise to kick off our third season. This conversation is not to be missed.” \nThe 2023/2024 FCTH Housing Matters season will include the following community conversations across Fairfield County: \nOctober: Connecting Housing and Education\nNovember: Building Sustainable Communities\nJanuary: Working in Fairfield County\nMarch: Understanding Zoning in Your Community
