A Statement on the Recent Threats to Fairfield County Schools from Mendi Blue Paca, President & CEO of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation
Sep 19, 2024
The recent threats made against public schools in Fairfield County are deeply troubling and must be condemned in the strongest terms.
One of the Community Foundation’s key pillars is education equity, and at the heart of equity is the basic right to feel safe and supported within the school environment.
No child, teacher, or school staff member should ever be subjected to an atmosphere of fear or anxiety.
Our country is facing an alarming rise in violent, bigoted, and racist rhetoric, which is now finding its way into our communities and classrooms here in Fairfield County.
Violence and threats of violence are not only corrosive and traumatizing – they also undermine the very foundation of learning and personal growth.
At Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, we stand firmly with those condemning these actions.
Our students and public servants deserve the freedom to pursue their education, their dreams, and every opportunity to thrive without fear.
We will continue to advocate for a safe, inclusive, and equitable educational environment for all who call Fairfield County home.
