Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls Annual Luncheon to Feature Keynote Speaker Andrea Jung

March 28, 2017, NORWALK, CT — On April 20, 2017, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls will host Andrea Jung as the keynote speaker at the annual luncheon to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, CT. The theme of the luncheon is ‘Nurturing Seeds Of Opportunity’.
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls Annual Luncheon celebrates making a difference for women and girls throughout Fairfield County. Fund for Women & Girls dedicated devotee Liz Lazarus of Greenwich, CT chairs this year’s luncheon and is supported by the luncheon committee. “The Fund has a longstanding history of engaging philanthropists and investing in sustainable solutions. Our approach has proven effective in bolstering the economic security of women and girls in our county,” states Ms. Lazarus. “That is why the Fund for Women & Girls is my philanthropy of choice.”
Andrea Jung is the President and CEO of Grameen America. Ms. Jung joined Grameen America with the goal of scaling the organization to solve economic issues for women and their families across the country. She is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avon Products, Inc., where she served as CEO from 1999 through April 2012, and as Chairman from 2001 through December 2012. Throughout her professional career, Ms. Jung ranked consistently among the top leaders on lists including Fortune magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in Business,” Forbes magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in the World,” and Financial Times’ “Top Women in World Business.”
The luncheon is a highly anticipated annual event attracting more than 700 friends and supporters from Connecticut and beyond. Attendees celebrate making an important difference for thousands of women and girls throughout Fairfield County, learn about the Fund’s work and hear from women who have benefited from their support. Previous keynote speakers include Abby Wambach, the late Dr. Maya Angelou, Geena Davis, Dr. Madeleine Albright, Soledad O’Brien, and Gloria Steinem.

Net proceeds from the Annual Luncheon will support the Family Economic Security Program (FESP) at Housatonic Community College. Built on the successful pilot program at Norwalk Community College, FESP will ensure that 400 low-income students, over a four period, persist, graduate and move into family-sustaining employment.
