About the Fund for Women & Girls
Through Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls, individuals and organizations are coming together to invest in sustainable solutions that support the safety, health, and economic security of women and girls across Fairfield County. Over two decades, philanthropy has fueled more than $8 million in grants through our Fund for Women & Girls, improving futures for tens of thousands of women and girls in Fairfield County.

MARGARET ATWOOD
Margaret Atwood is the author of more than fifty books of fiction, poetry and critical essays. Her most recent, record-breaking novel, The Testaments—sequel to her 1985 classic The Handmaid’s Tale—won the 2019 Booker Prize. Her other work includes the Giller and Booker Prize-shortlisted Oryx and Crake, as well as Alias Grace, The Robber Bride, Cat’s Eye, and Booker winner The Blind Assassin. With The Handmaid’s Tale now a critically acclaimed television series set to enter its fourth season, Atwood’s prescient prose depicting a dystopian future is even more relevant than ever. She has received the German Peace Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Franz Kafka International Literary Prize, and the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award, among others. In October 2019, Atwood was presented with the Companion of Honor award by Queen Elizabeth, making her only the third Canadian to receive the distinction.
As a one-stop wellness resource hub, emme will empower women and girls to achieve and maintain healthy, self-actualized lives.
Who We Serve
The emme coalition is designed with a trauma-informed lens to support all girls and women of reproductive age, 12-49 years, who live in Bridgeport.
Program Delivery
A range of holistic services, both virtual and physical, will be offered through our nonprofit partner OPTIMUS Health Care.
Program SCOPE
The program will serve 100 women & girls through intensive case management, and 1000 through less intensive services.
