About the Fund for Women & Girls
Through Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls, individuals and organizations are coming together to invest in sustainable solutions that support the safety, health, and economic security of women and girls across Fairfield County. Over two decades, philanthropy has fueled more than $8 million in grants through our Fund for Women & Girls, improving futures for tens of thousands of women and girls in Fairfield County.
Anita Hill is a Professor of Law, Public Policy, and Women’s Studies at Brandeis University. The youngest of 13 children from a farm in rural Oklahoma, she received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1980 and began her career in private practice in Washington, D.C. Before becoming a law professor, she worked at the U.S. Education Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The recipient of a 2019 PEN Courage Award, Professor Hill’s commentary has been featured by major media outlets from The New York Times to Good Morning America. Her new book, Believing: Our Thirty-Year Journey to End Gender Violence, is a powerful call to arms from one of America’s most prominent and poised survivors. Her prior autobiography, Speaking Truth to Power, shares her story of testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about sexual harassment experienced during her career.
Who We Serve
The emme coalition is designed with a trauma-informed lens to support all girls and women of reproductive age, 12-49 years, who live in Bridgeport.
The program will serve 100 women & girls through intensive case management, and 1000 through less intensive services.
