Fairfield County’s Giving Day is March 9th
March 2, 2017, NORWALK, CT —
Fairfield County’s Giving Day is just a few short days away. It is the region’s biggest philanthropic event that allows our community to unite and make a difference. Over 430 nonprofits are participating this year to boost funding and awareness about the amazing work they do throughout the region. Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, with champion sponsor Bank of America are Giving Day’s driving forces for the fourth year in a row.
The excitement of Giving Day begins March 9th at midnight. Individuals can go to FCGives.org and make a donation of $10 or more to the nonprofit or cause close to their heart. What’s truly amazing about Giving Day is that it’s an opportunity for each one of us to do something good for our community. And it has been proven by many psychological studies that giving makes people happy. Giving back to the world around us gives the donor joy especially when one chooses to do so.
So gather your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers and get ready to “give where you live,” Fairfield County! Your gift – whatever the size – will help nonprofits compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes ranging from $250 to $20,000.
In addition to Bank of America, Giving Day is also supported by the generosity of media partner, Hearst Media Group Connecticut; champion sponsor, Whole Foods Market; magazine sponsor, Moffly Media; media sponsors, News 12 Connecticut, Star 99.9 and 95.9 FOX and other Giving Day champions including TFI Envision, Day Pitney LLP, First County Bank, Webster Private Bank, Deloitte, Cummings & Lockwood, BlumShapiro, Neuberger Berman, Relyea Zuckerberg Hanson, Barrett Outdoor and Wealth Enhancement.
Everyone is encouraged to visit FCGives.org again and again to help his or her favorite nonprofit win, and win BIG. “Communities thrive when residents have access to good education and workforce development opportunities, food support for families that struggle with hunger, and many other resources to support a healthy community. Bank of America has been the lead sponsor of Fairfield County Giving Day because we recognize the far-reaching impact this day of giving has on nonprofits in our area,” states Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut Market President at Bank of America.
Last year, Fairfield County’s Giving Day had extraordinary results: $1.24 million was donated by 11,000 plus individuals for 410 nonprofits. “Fairfield County’s Community Foundation is honored to partner with community members, nonprofit organizations and businesses that are philanthropic, socially conscious champions,” states Juanita James, CEO and President, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. “With our partners and generous donors, collectively we can change not only our own lives but the lives of our neighbors. We are set to make a terrific impact on March 9th for the people and places served by our important nonprofit sector and we hope you join us! Remember, together we thrive!”
Starting 12:00 am on March 9th go to FCGives.org and “Give Where You Live!”
