(Norwalk, CT) Fairfield County’s Giving Day 2019 starts at the stroke of midnight tonight, February 28th! This is Fairfield County’s leading philanthropic day of the year, when everyone has the chance to support causes nearest and dearest to their hearts! It’s a 24-hour marathon of giving and this year, Fairfield County is celebrating its 6th annual Giving Day. The clock is ticking, so go to FCGIVES.org right now and search for the nonprofits you want to support. There are 430 of them! And, for as little as $10, you will make a difference to any one of the participating nonprofits! Your gift – whatever the size – will help nonprofits compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $20,000.
Fairfield County’s Giving Day 2019 is a dynamic 24-hour online fundraising event powered by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation that began in 2014. Over the past 5 years, Giving Day has raised nearly $6 million for more 746 nonprofits. Each year, nonprofits participate to boost funding and create awareness about the amazing work they do throughout the region. They utilize every dollar you donate.
Fairfield County nonprofits are the backbone of the community. Fairfield County’s Community Foundation strives to close the opportunity gap by fostering a vital and inclusive community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive while promoting philanthropy as a means to create lasting change in Fairfield County. With each of their nonprofit partners, you need to know that the organizations you support today on Giving Day play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant, thriving region and offer opportunities across the county.
You also need to know that right here, in Fairfield County, 10 % of families are struggling to find their next meal and 35,000 children living in food insecure households rely on nonprofits for assistance. Nonprofits also help bolster cultural programs, strengthen our schools, shelter the homeless, train the unemployed, protect our environment and so much more.
What’s truly amazing about Giving Day is that it’s an opportunity for each one of us to do something positive for our community. “Six years ago, Giving Day was just a dream for the Community Foundation. Today, it is a day of hope for nonprofits throughout our region. We have learned that collectively we can and will change the lives of our neighbors and our community. Our nonprofit partners’ need is greater than ever before and their resources are significantly diminished,” said Juanita James, CEO and President, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. “Over the past five years, you have joined us to truly inspire giving. Today is no different. We need each and every one of our community members throughout Fairfield County and their friends, colleagues and families to act generously from the heart one more time. The impact we can make today for the people and places of Fairfield County’s is vital because… together we thrive!”
In 2019, Bank of America, back again for the sixth year in a row, as Giving Day’s champion sponsor, is helping to empower all community members to participate in philanthropy by encouraging local giving to nonprofits, serving the 23 towns and cities of Fairfield County. “Bank of America is honored to participate again this year in Fairfield County Giving Day as a proud partner with Fairfield County’s Community Foundation,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut Market President, Bank of America. “It is a unique opportunity to engage the community in giving and supporting hundreds of nonprofits in the region.”
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation is honored to have its Giving Day’s Media Partner – Hearst Connecticut Media Group and Premiere Magazine Sponsor – Moffly Media; Radio Superstars – Star 99.9 and 95.9 the Fox; Online Powerhouse – Hamlet Hub; Billboard Extraordinaire – Barrett Outdoor and as Local as local News Gets – News12 Connecticut; along with its Neighborhood sponsors – NEWMAN’s OWN Foundation and Stop & Shop; Power Hour sponsor, The Jeniam Foundation and Town Square sponsors – Neuberger Berman; Webster Private Bank; Day Pitney; First County Bank and Insperity and the Giving Day 2019 Event Sponsors – The Klein Memorial Auditorium, Source Coffeehouse and Ratatouille & Co, all of whom are dedicated to the greater community of nonprofits in Fairfield County and power the Giving Day’s success.
