Feb 15, 2022

NORWALK, CT (Feb. 15, 2022) – Governor Ned Lamont has issued a proclamation declaring February 24, 2022 as, “Fairfield County’s Giving Day” in the State of Connecticut.

Through Fairfield County’s Giving Day, thousands of individuals, families and businesses will join together to make an incredibly powerful, collective impact by supporting Fairfield County nonprofits.

“The Governor’s notable support and commitment to charitable giving in Fairfield County by proclamation of Fairfield County’s Giving Day is a historic moment that all residents of Fairfield County can celebrate,” Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s President and CEO Juanita James said. “On behalf of the Fairfield County Community Foundation, we are grateful for the local and state elected officials who recognize the immense work and impact generated by our local nonprofit community.”

Powered by the Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF), Fairfield County’s Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event designed to help nonprofits raise funds and awareness, build relationships with new supporters, and gain access to training and tools that help them build their capacity to raise money throughout the year.

Since its inception in 2014, the event has raised more than $11.5 million for nonprofits in Fairfield County through the contributions of thousands of donors who come together each year to support local causes. In 2021, nearly 400 Fairfield County nonprofits raised more than $2.25 million through contributions by nearly 15,000 individuals and families.

Bank of America has served as Fairfield County’s Giving Day’s Champion Sponsor throughout the event’s history and has encouraged fellow businesses throughout the community to support the event. This year, Bank of America is joined by County Sponsor Hearst Connecticut Media Group; Premiere Regional Magazine Sponsor Moffly Media; Neighborhood Sponsors The Jeniam Foundation, Optimum, and the Back to You Fund at FCCF; Power Hour Sponsors KeyBank, TargetonStar, Fairfield County’s Center for Housing Opportunity, the Fund for Women & Girls at FCCF, and the Immigrant Success Fund at FCCF; Town Square Sponsors Webster Private Bank and Band Central; and Media Sponsors 95.9 The Fox, Star 99.9, WEBE108, WICC, News12 and The Two Oh Three.

“As the region’s largest philanthropic event of the year, Giving Day is a true demonstration of what can happen when our community comes together for a greater purpose,“ said Bill Tommins, President, Bank of America Southern Connecticut. “Partnerships between the private and public sectors are critical in advancing the nonprofits that support our communities each day. This proclamation underscores the importance of this initiative and the impact it has had, and will continue to have, for years to come.“
