History of the Community Foundation
Fairfield Community’s Community Foundation was formed in 1992 when five smaller foundations merged.
In 1992 the Danbury, Greenwich, Stamford and Five Town (comprised of Westport, Wilton, Weston, Norwalk and Darien) foundations, and the Fairfield County Foundation, merged to better serve their communities and Fairfield County. The foundation was named Fairfield County Foundation. It was later renamed Fairfield County Community Foundation.
In 2008, the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation and the Fairfield County Community Foundation merged.
In 2014, the Fairfield County Community Foundation changed its name and brand identity to Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.
