Voices of The SOUL Fund: Why We Give
Feb 25, 2026
The SOUL Fund at Fairfield County’s Community Foundation is a new giving circle that directs grant funding to nonprofits creating positive change with and for the Black community in Fairfield County.
A minimum donation of $365 is required to become a member, with the option of recurring payments. Annual membership runs from July 1 to June 30, and entitles one individual to one vote at SOUL Fund events to help select grants to be distributed to Black-led and serving nonprofits.
More than 100 members have already joined this inclusive giving circle, which is open to everyone who cares about making positive change in their community. And, thanks to a matching grant from Philanthropy Today, The SOUL Fund will receive an additional $2,500 when 25 new members join.
In celebration of the fact that Black history is not only something we honor, but something that communities continue to build, this month we asked founding members of The SOUL Fund to share what inspires them most about this new opportunity for collective giving—and why they hope more neighbors will join in the effort.
