A Holiday Message from Juanita James, President & CEO
Dec 20, 2021
Dear Friends,
The holiday season is upon us — a time when people of all faiths and backgrounds pause to celebrate their blessings, share time with family and friends and look ahead to the possibilities of a new year.
Here in Fairfield County, the spirit of this season is inspiring, for it spotlights both our incredible diversity and the shared values that guide each of us. No matter our background, all of us want peace and health for our loved ones, an opportunity to prosper and thrive and a strong community to call home.
That’s why — even as I look back on a turbulent year lived under the shadow of a deadly pandemic and intense political division — I am hopeful.
Throughout 2021 I saw reasons for hope in every corner of our community.
I saw hope when our business community joined forces to form the Fairfield County Business Collaborative — an effort that is providing Internet access, summer learning programs and addressing food insecurity for young people in our community.
I saw hope in February, when our community came together like never before to donate more than $2.25 million for local nonprofits on Fairfield County’s Giving Day.
And I saw hope every day in the generosity of our donors— individuals and families who are supporting their neighbors through their philanthropy.
During a year of challenge, I’m more aware than ever about what makes our community special — and I’m optimistic that our best days are ahead.
As we reflect on our blessings this holiday season, I encourage you to take a moment to celebrate the ways you’ve contributed to our community over the past year — and how your life has been enriched by those around you.
May your holiday season be one of joy, health, happiness … and hope.
With gratitude,
Juanita T. James
