Celebrating Women in Leadership: A Message from Juanita T. James, President & CEO
Mar 28, 2022
Dear Friend,
Throughout Women’s History Month, the Community Foundation has been sharing stories of some of the women who are working to make Fairfield County a stronger, more equitable community.
These incredible leaders embody the spirit of a community that is always striving to evolve.
That spirit is also regularly on display through efforts like the Fund for Women & Girls. For nearly 25 years, the Fund has been bringing together philanthropists across our region to invest in supporting the safety, health, and economic security of women and girls throughout Fairfield County.
Its newest project, the emme coalition, supports more than 80 young women and girls as they build and maintain healthy, self-actualized lives.
This new generation of women — empowered with skills that will help them reach their full potential — will carry forward the spirit of the amazing women we’ve profiled this month on our blog. There, you’ll meet:
• Tiffany Donelson, the inspiring leader behind the Connecticut Health Foundation’s efforts to make health care more equitable.
• Pat Zachman, the recently retired CEO and President of The Center for Empowerment and Education, who dedicated her career to ending gender-based violence.
• Mayor Caroline Simmons, who recently became the first woman to be elected as Mayor of Stamford.
I invite you to explore the stories behind these inspiring figures — and share the stories of others who are making a difference in Fairfield County.
With gratitude,
Juanita T. James

P.S. – You can meet some of the inspiring young women who are part of the emme coalition on Friday, April 22, at our Fund for Women & Girls Annual Luncheon. Join them and keynote speaker Anita Hill in person at the Greenwich Hyatt or virtually on our live stream!
