Countdown to Fairfield County’s Final Giving Day

Champion Sponsor Bank of America Leads a Decade of Support for Local Nonprofits

NORWALK, CT. (February 6, 2023) – Fairfield County’s biggest giving event is quickly approaching!

On Thursday, February 23, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation will celebrate its final Giving Day, closing the chapter on 10 years of success of the 24-hour virtual fundraising marathon that’s helped build the fundraising capacity of hundreds of local nonprofits.

Fairfield County’s Giving Day 2023 offers another opportunity for our community members to support their favorite Fairfield County nonprofits during a concentrated online day of giving.

“For the past nine years, we have had the honor of witnessing our community rally together in support of nonprofits of all sizes and causes on Giving Day, “ said Mendi Blue Paca, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s president and CEO. “While this final Giving Day on February 23 may be a bittersweet moment, it is also an exciting beginning of a new chapter that will allow us to serve our local nonprofits in even more engaging, timely and equitable ways so all of us can thrive.”

In alignment with the Foundation’s new strategic plan, Fairfield County Forward, the Foundation will continue to support nonprofit capacity building through the responsive programming of its Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

“We listened deeply to our nonprofit partners through a strategic planning process and learned that the fundraising landscape has evolved,” said Blue Paca. “We couldn’t be more inspired by the new possibilities of what’s to come, and we hope the community will come together again to make this final Giving Day a huge success.”

Since 2014, Fairfield County’s Giving Day has raised $13.75 million for Fairfield County’s nonprofits. In 2022, there were approximately 17,000 donations made in the 24-hours of Giving Day, raising more than $2 million.

“Since the launch of the first Fairfield County’s Giving Day, our mission has always been to help our neighbors, trying to make their lives better. At Bank of America, as we reflect on a decade of serving as the champion sponsor for Giving Day, we are extremely proud of the generosity our community has demonstrated year after year to support our local nonprofits,” said Bill Tommins, President, Bank of America Southern Connecticut. “Giving Day has always been an investment in all residents of Fairfield County, and we look forward to continuing year-long efforts to benefit our nonprofits, our communities and our neighbors.”

This year, Giving Day is anticipating that nearly 400 organizations will participate. The giving window will open on FCGives.org at 12:00 a.m. on February 23 and run through 11:59 p.m. The minimum donation is $10, and community members can view the complete list of Giving Day nonprofits and the causes they support by visiting FCGives.org.
